About Me
Hello. I'm Hayley.
I draw things, write things, and have an unfortunate habit of turning small ideas into projects that require spreadsheets.
It usually starts innocently enough.
"I'll design one T-shirt."
Three months later there's an entire collection, a redesigned website, seventeen browser tabs explaining CSS, and Nigel quietly filing another incident report.
This blog is where all of that ends up.
What This Place Is
This is where I write about games, books, illustration, creativity, and the various rabbit holes I have wandered into with far too much confidence and not nearly enough preparation.
It is not a productivity blog.
Nobody is getting up at 5am to optimise their morning routine. At least not on purpose.
What you'll find
Games, books, creativity, illustration, design, and strange little rabbit holes.
What I make
Illustrated products, collections, essays, reviews, and the occasional administrative incident.
You'll probably fit in here if...
You like tea, cosy games, interesting books, creative projects, and occasionally disappearing down unnecessary research rabbit holes.
About Gainful Bhaji
Gainful Bhaji started as a creative project and has slowly become a place for illustrated designs, merchandise, writing, and community.
The shop is where the finished things live.
The blog is where I explain how they became finished things, which is usually less elegant than the final product suggests.
You may notice occasional appearances from Nigel, the long-suffering administrative officer responsible for documenting what happens when creative enthusiasm gets left unsupervised.
You can read about
- Creative process posts about illustration, product design, and building collections
- Reviews of games, books, films, and other things worth thinking about
- Book club reflections and discussion posts
- Essays about creativity, internet culture, work, weird interests, and the occasional existential wobble
- Rabbit holes, because sometimes curiosity gets unsupervised
